New pollution regulations to cut China’s CO2 emissions 180 mt/year by 2020

02 December 2015 – China has introduced new coal plant efficiency standards (310g standard coal/kwh for current coal fired plants and 300g standard coal/kwh for new ones) in a bid to curb local air pollution. These standards are expected to lead to a cut of  180 million tonnes CO2 emissions by 2020.
