Nearly all of China’s power generators to be covered by ETS

17 February 2016 – According to the current plan for the national emissions trading scheme (ETS) in China, the threshold for covered companies is 10,000 tonnes of standard coal, emitted  in any year between 2009 and 2013. Therefore, nearly all of China’s power generators will be brought into the national ETS, which will be launched next year, said by Wang Zhixuan, Director of the China Electricity Council. He also announced that the next work plans on ETS for the power industry  will involve the drafting process of allowances allocation for power companies and focus on relevant capacity building.
