IETA study: Reputation of ETS depends on China’s success

May 24, 2018 – According to IETA’s annual GHG Market Sentiment survey, 71% of respondents think that the reputation of emission trading could be impacted if the Chinese ETS is not seen as a success by the international community. The survey, which was carried out by PwC with over 100 representatives from IETA members, furthermore found that a high share believes that the launch of the ETS will encourage other countries to do the same. Another important finding is that most respondents see the establishment of the MRV system as the biggest challenge to the future implementation of the Chinese ETS.
