China’s first national standards for GHG emissions management was released

19 November 2015 – The Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC) officially issued the first national standards for GHG emissions management, which include general requirements and 10 specific sectorial standards (power generation, electricity grid, steel, civil aviation, cement, chemistry, plate glass, electrolytic aluminum, magnesium smelting and ceramics).

These standards clarify the boundaries (companies based), scopes (direct and indirect emissions, stationary and mobile emissions), methods (calculation and actual measurement) and gas types (CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, SF6 and NF3) of GHG emissions. Furthermore, these new standards will be implemented from June 2016.
