China’s Carbon Emission Trading High-level Forum was held on 4th February

On China’s Carbon Emission Trading High-level Forum held on 4th February, Jiang Zhaoli, Director of the Domestic Policy and Compliance Division of the Department of Climate Change, NDRC said: national carbon market is scheduled to be operational in 2016 and it is expected to enter high-speed phase in 2019. Enterprises with annual carbon emissions of over 26000 tons can be included into the national carbon market. And 7-10 emissions trading exchanges will be remained by then.

During this Forum, Director-general of Climate Action of European Commission, Mary Veronica Tovsak Pleterski introduced experiences and lessons learnt from EU-ETS; she said two factors are of vital importance when China manages to establish national carbon market, one is transparency, and the other is predictability.
