China Announced the 13th Five-Year-Plan on Energy Saving and Emissions Reduction

05 January 2017 – According to the plan, China’s total energy consumption will be capped at 5 billion metric tons of coal equivalent by 2020. This will translate into a 15-percent reduction of energy use per unit of GDP by 2020, and it stated clearly that China will launch the national ETS in 2017. Besides, this plan disaggregated the overall emissions-cutting target into provincial level for each major pollutant.
