China announced that it will launch national ETS in 2017

26 September 2015 – On 25th September, 2015, President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama made an U.S.-China Joint Presidential Statement on Climate Change. There are three main topics of this joint statement: Vision for the Paris Climate Conference, Advancing Domestic Climate Action and Enhancing Bilateral and Multilateral Climate Cooperation.

According to this joint statement, China will start its national ETS in 2017, covering the key industries such as iron and steel, power generation, chemicals, building materials, paper-making, and nonferrous metals. China commits to promote low-carbon buildings and transportation, with the share of green buildings reaching 50% in newly built buildings in cities and towns by 2020 and the share of public transport in motorized travel reaching 30% in big- and medium-sized cities by 2020.
