Report: ‘Impacts of Carbon Price on China’s Energy and Climate Policies’ Issued by State Information Center of China

02 April 2016 – On March 23, State Information Center of China issued a report “Impacts of Carbon Price on China’s Energy and Climate Policies ” during a workshop regarding the possible pathways for achieving emissions peak of China.

“In order to achieve emissions peak as China’s commitment , the total GHG emissions in 2030 will be 11 billion tons and the carbon price shall be then RMB 130 Yuan/ton.”  The report conclude. Besides, the report also provides different scenarios (low, medium and high) for the conclusion, and indicated that if the carbon price before 2022 can’t be higher than 50 Yuan/ton,  market mechanisms is no actual effects on emissions reduction.
